Converse All-Star question?

I LOVE chuck taylor's converse all stars. Currently, I have seven pairs of them (low-tops). They are all from Marshall's or Ross (who can resist converse it cool colors at $20 bucks a pair? Not me, that's for sure!). Also, all the ones that mae it to Marsall's ae discontinued colors or patterns, and aren't even sold on Converse.com anymore. But as much as I enjoy wearing them….They seem to fall apart pretty easily. For example, I have two pairs that I wear alternate wearing. They both, after several months of wear, have ripped on the outside of the sidewall. The canvas seems to rip a little more each time I wear them. The rubber also scuffs easy, and discolors quite easily as well. THis confuses me, because my friend has a pair she got from Rebok-the classic black/white chuck taylor high top all-stars- and she has had them well over a year, wears them every day,and they are in fantastic shape. Sure, they scuff, but it takes ALOT to scuff hem. Also, hers have no rips. MY QUESTION IS….Could there be a difference in quality in the classic converse all-star sneakers and the discontinued all-star models that make their way to discount stores?
